Bali’s riverside Villa Maison Matisse is hidden away in the heart of the traditional fishing village of Seseh near Canggu, just footsteps away from the beach on Bali’s southwest coast. Fully renovated in 2023, this open space vacation home can accommodate up to ten guests in five air-conditioned bedrooms, each of which is adjoined by its own private bathroom. You’ll find three bedrooms in the main two-storey building, with two more situated within a pair of self-contained, thatch-roof guest houses in the garden, where ancient, sacred trees stand guard alongside a 22-metre infinity pool that appears to overflow into the river.

All of the bedrooms are furnished with king-sized beds and three of the bathrooms are fitted with oversized bathtubs, two of which are open to the sky. Experience the tropical lifestyle in the expansive open-fronted living room and the elevated outdoor veranda, complete with semi-alfresco dining table and an open-air bar table. Here, you will be well looked after by a small team of friendly and competent staff. The two upstairs bedrooms are fitted with folding glass doors offering the choice of air-conditioned comfort or breezy fresh-air sleeping, as well as the opportunity to soak in a bathtub under the stars. Blessed with glorious views of the river, and spectacular sunsets over the distant ocean and the rugged, dark-sand, surf beach of Seseh.
